Looking for true grocery stores in Puerto Vallarta, we have plenty of those too.
Most tourists want to make a trip to the grocery store upon their arrival. There are lots of locally owned mini marts all through town, some specializing in US foods but if you’re looking for true grocery stores in Puerto Vallarta, we have plenty of those too.
Mega Super: Located on Av. Francisco Medina Ascencio 1834, this store is hard to miss when you’re traveling through the Hotel Zone. This truly is a ‘mega’ grocery store.
Ley: Just a few blocks beyond the end of the Malecon, located on Av. México 1150 in 5 de Diciembre, this grocery store isn’t as large as the others, but stocks all of the essentials.
La Comer: About as close to a US supermarket, and with all the US brands, La Comer is located in Fluvial, next to Costco. Looking for a hard to find La Croix selzer water, stone ground mustard or anchovy paste? You’ll find it here. And surprisingly, not at crazy prices.
Costco: Located in Fluvial next to La Comer. You can use your US or Canadian Costco card to shop here, but you can sign up for a card if you don’t already have one. If you plan on living here for any period of time, it will pay off. Most of my price comparisons have found the food here to be fresh and most economical.
Sorianna: Several locations throughout town, they have some weekly specials that can be a huge savings.
Walmart: There are two Walmart stores in town but you’ll find more of a selection at the one next to Sams Club.
Vallarta Farmers Market: There is one at the corner of Lázaro Cárdenas and Camichin in the Emilio Zapata neighborhood. There’s Vallarta Market, the Municpal Market, on the corner of Brasilia and San Salvador in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood. Both offer fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, cheese, desserts and more. Worth the trip to check it out, even if you only want to buy a few mangos.
